This year’s Shekhawati Festival hosts a rich array of activities for everyone to enjoy…

Tucked away in the vast semi-desert countryside of Rajasthan, India is a little known treasure chest of indian art, culture and rural farm life, a place where the medieval elegance of Rajput history meets the simplicity of backcountry charm. Known as the Shekhawati Region, it has developed over the centuries into a network of farming communities and merchant trade routes linked by small towns and winding dirt roads.

The region is most celebrated for it's painted havelis , lavishly constructed mansions and courtyard scattered throughout the countryside whose walls and facades are decorated with colorful depictions of indian culture , region and history. Built during the 18th and 19th centuries, these structures often served as homes, temples and monuments for the prosperous merchant families whose trade activities in the region generated substantial wealth for them, culminating in ostentatious displays of their success in the forms of frescoes.
